Can you tell us something about Vestas Wind Systems?
‘Vestas Wind System A/S is a wind turbine OEM. We sell and install wind turbines in more than 50 countries per year. I’m part of Innovation and Concept Development and my role is to ensure long term future supply chain solutions.’
What are your biggest technological challenges at the moment?
‘The main technical challenges for renewable energy is how to cost efficiently storage and distribute energy. My focus is on the wind industry supply chain. We see that wind turbines grow ever bigger. And future wind turbines will be installed in aras with very poor infrastructures. This calls for alternative transportation, installation and service concepts.’
What do you hope people will learn from your presentation at TUS Nordics?
‘I will reflect on how unmanned systems will impact performance in uncontrollable environments like a wind turbine power plant.’
What presentation do you hope to give in 5 years?
‘Within five years, I like to look back and see that legislation has shown not to be an obstacle for promising and safe technologies. Within five years, we will see that unmanned systems have increased the abilities for conditional monitoring and surveillance, which, in combination with increased functionality of drones, will avoid a range of manual labor activities and improve the maintenance programs. Within five years, and looking ahead, we will have a high focus on hazard operations being performed by unmanned systems. Also we will have high focus on safe and reliable autonomous operations.’
