UAS Test Center Denmark and University of Southern Denmark (SDU) announce the opening of a new international drone center at Hans Christian Andersen Airport in Odense, Denmark. A spectacular drone demonstration will open the brand new Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS) Airspace over land and sea on 5 May next.
Last year, the Danish government launched Denmark’s first national drone strategy based on the global perspectives and potential for the industry in Denmark. In connection to this, a task force was commissioned to work out an ambitious and internationally oriented model for drone flying and testing at Hans Christian Andersen Airport. The aim is the involved parties is to create leading and internationally attractive facilities, which will form the basis for continued development of the national industry bringing Denmark in front.
During a festive event on 5 May from 10:00 – 12:00 several keynotes and demonstrations will take place:
– Perspectives from Søren Pind, Minister for Higher Education and Science and Ole Birk Olesen, Minister for Transport, Building and Housing
– Keynotes from international organizations
– Perpectives from national partners – The opening of the new airspace with long distance BVLOS drone flying
– Spectacular Drone workshops and displays
