SICK, the global manufacturer of sensor solutions for industrial applications, is coming to TUS Nordics 2017. They will show a new type of UAV sensor that is light weight and capable of scanning surfaces extensively. Esben Ketler, Marketing Manager at SICK, tells us more.
Can you tell us something about SICK?
‘SICK is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for industrial applications. The innovative LiDAR sensors in the SICK portfolio have been in the fore front of Unmanned System for many years. Both in harsh industrial AGV settings and the most extreme challenges like the autonomous vehicles race DARPA the LIDAR systems of SICK have been the corner stone of the most successful solutions.’
What is SICK going to show at TUS Nordics 2017?
‘Now SICK has developed a brand new 3D LiDAR sensor specifically designed to UAV applications. From 300 meters in the sky this light weight UAV multilayer LiDAR sensor LD-MRS is scanning the surface in 4 simultaneous layers. This results in a high definition resolution with great depth and overlapping secure and valid data. The sensor is packed with our newest technologies including multi echo function that eliminates false signals from fog, rain, snow and hard sunlight. The scanning capabilities of the LD-MRS UAV make it the perfect solution for inspection of large areas e.g. when counting life stock, inspecting crop fields or checking damages on bridges or assessing flooding extents. Which people would you like to meet at the Exhibition?
‘SICK is inviting all companies, researchers, students and people that have an interest in solving problems using UAV’s to visit our stand, No 3, and lean more about the our UAV LiDAR sensor.’
